Earlier today I was interviewed by Fox News regarding a "Roadrunner Rescue" that happened yesterday.... you can click on the web link to see images of the rescue....
Yesterday morning while at the Desert Botanical Garden... Jeff Stemshorn & I came across the mother Roadrunner hanging upside down from the cactus where she has a nest. Her talons had become entangled in fishing line and as she had tried to free herself from it.. she had fallen and become lodged in the cactus spines. We tried to free her but did not have the proper equipment, so Jeff called the ranger for help. The ranger & the cactus horticulturist were able to free her from the cactus and the fishing line to 3 hungry babies waiting for her. This is a good reminder as to why you should be picking up after yourself when fishing. Too many helpless animals each year die from becoming entangled in pieces of fishing line.....
